It is all about relationship

We can identify ourselves with a sporting team and say things like: "We won the game" We might even know the names of all of the players in the team and much much more about them, but do we actually know them? How then can we say "We won"? We did not win, but those people that we may know a lot about won. How much do we know God? We may have read quite a bit about Him and we may even be quite knowledgeable about the things that He does and has done, but do we know Him? We may even be doing many works of service that we believe that God would want us to be doing, but are they what He desires of us? We can read His word and say that He requires this or that of us, but does He?

LUKE 10 : 38 - 42 NKJV
38 Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

In the above verses from Luke 10 we can see Martha was distracted with much serving. Now while Martha was serving she became envious of her sister Mary who was at Jesus' feet hearing His word. Martha tells Jesus to get Mary up to help her, but Jesus simply tells Martha that Mary has chosen well and that what she is doing is basically more important. Now let me just say that another way: It is more important to be listening to what Jesus has to say than to be busied in doing what we think that we should be doing.

ROMANS 8 : 14 NKJV
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Romans 8:14 is telling us that the true sons of God are led by Him.

JOHN 10 : 22 - 30 NKJV
22 Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. 23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. 24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. 26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.”

Verses 27 and 28 above say it all: 27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand."Jesus' disciples hear His voice and obey Him and they receive eternal life. Therefore if one knows a lot about God but does not know Him or is not led by Him, then that one does not have eternal life. Jesus also says "I know them"

MATTHEW 7 : 21 - 23 NKJV
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Clearly it is all about knowing God, not knowing about Him! In order to be Led by Him we need to hear His voice. How much then can we be so busy in this world that we live in, that we are distracted and do not spend enough time at Jesus' feet? We are not a part of God's team if we only know about Him, but do not know Him and we can not share in His victory unless we do know Him. If we can not hear Him, we can ask Him to show us why. He will help us if we genuinely want to know Him. If one is too busy to listen to God, then that one is lost.
