You can run but you can not hide.

We can do as we please because God has given us all a free will. Every moment of every day we exercise that free will by the choices that we make when we respond to our circumstances. We can be happy or sad, disappointed or accepting, forgiving or unforgiving, etc. We decide how we will respond. Like saying, "My cup is half full" or "My cup is half empty". We could also choose to be angry or bitter or depressed, etc. If we have chosen to be christians, we do not need to have any negatives in our life, because Jesus Christ will set us free. Again, that would be our choice, exercising our free will. If we ask Him why we are angry, bitter, frustrated, depressed, fearful, anxious, untruthful, unsubmitted, lusty, immoral, self-centered, etc. , then He will tell us the truth. Once we have the truth, again we choose what we are going to do. Will we repent and be free or will we remain trapped in our problems? If we do not hear God very clearly then we can ask others to pray with us, that we may know the truth, if that is our will to do so. So therefore we have no excuse if we have chosen to be negative, fearful, sinful, etc. Jesus Christ has laid down His own life that all who come to Him can be forgiven and set free. He has paid the price for our sin in full, but it is our choice whether we cash in on His great generosity.
If however we call ourselves by His name, christian, then we have an account with Him. In other words, if we call ourselves christians, then we have given our free will up and chosen to do the will of God. No longer should we make up our own mind, but we are to be led by The Holy Spirit. As we surrender to doing the will of God, as a process, we will become more like Him and bear the fruits of Him, having been transformed by the truth.

GALATIANS 5 : 16 - 26 NKJV
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

ROMANS 8 : 13 - 14 NKJV
13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

If therefore you choose to live according to your flesh then you will die. But if you choose to obey The Holy Spirit who will empower you to put to death the sinful deeds of your previous bad choices, then you will live. True christian sons and daughters of God will choose to obey and be led by The Holy Spirit.

What happens to those who call themselves christians but do not behave as christians? If one calls themself a christian, that one is saying that they are a representative of Jesus Christ on earth. That person had better not be misrepresenting the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, because it will catch up with them somewhere along the line. I am not saying that one should attempt to display oneself as perfect, certainly not. Rather a true christian will glory in the forgiveness of Jesus Christ. In other words, a true christian will speak of their weakness and of the power of Christ to overcome it, and that will be genuine. When a true believer does the wrong thing, they will go back and apologize and make restitution if applicable. One can pretend to be a christian, but what does God say about that?

PSALM 81 : 15 NKJV
15 The haters of the Lord would pretend submission to Him,
But their fate would endure forever.

Therefore you may call yourself a christian but God knows those who are pretenders and He says that they are the ones who hate Him. Will God have those who hate Him in eternity with Him? No,He will give them eternity with satan, who is their lord. If you are a pretender, you can run from the truth but you can not hide!
