All is not as it seems.

How much of what we believe to be true is true? What about the things that we have learnt from people that we trusted that should know what is right? How much do we just trust media reports?  LUKE 6 : 43 - 45 NKJV 43  “For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.   44  For every tree is known by its own fruit. For  men  do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. 45  A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart  brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.   We can therefore judge what a person is teaching or telling us by their fruit. So we process what they are saying and decide for ourselves whether or not we agree with them based on what we already believe and how we perceive them to be. (There are a number of other factors in our processing but this is a basic overview) So for instance if we l

Manipulation

How much do we try to control our own destinies? How much do we try to control others to get what we want? Why? Is it sinful to try and control others by manipulation? We live in a world that says that it is all about us, all about what we want to do, where we would like to go and what we would like to own, etc. So how do we obtain the ability to have our own way, to get the things that we want when we want them? Do we submit all things to God or do we tell God what we want and get disappointed with Him when we do not get that thing? This would be just like the little child in the supermarket trolley wanting mum to buy them treats and having a tantrum if mum did not obey, so as to embarrass mum into giving in. JAMES 4 : 13 - 17 NKJV 13  Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”;  14  whereas you do not know what  will happen  tomorrow. For what  is  your life? It is even a vapor that appear

Anger

Is it sinful to be angry? If so why? What effect does anger have? MATTHEW 5 : 21 - 26 NKJV 21  “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder,  and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’   22  But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause  shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.   23  Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,   24  leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.   25  Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.   26  Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there

Humility

What is humility? Why is humility important? How do we obtain true humility? Oxford Dictionary meaning of Humility : The quality of having a modest or low view of one's importance. Therefore a person who has humility is not full of their own self importance. A person who has humility is able to listen to others and is able to learn because they do not think that their way is the only way. A person who has humility has the ability to love others. PHILIPPIANS 2 : 3 NKJV 3  Let  nothing  be done  through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. The world that we live in teaches that it is really all about us, our opinion, our truth, our way. It teaches us to be independent in our thinking so that we exercise our free will and decide our own destinies. For instance an extreme example of this is for one to decide their own gender regardless of their genitals. So the world teaches you make your own mind up about ever
