The Commission of power

We need the gifts of The Holy Spirit to empower us to do the will of God on this earth. The great commission is one of power. Jesus is the example, He came and ministered in the power of God to impact a broken world, to demonstrate the mercy of GOD and verify the Gospel that He preached with that power. We need it! Why do we need it? He wants us to obtain it! How then do we get it? What does it look like? How long do we have to wait to get it? Our world is broken through sin (obedience to satan). Most people are blind to the truth and are perishing in their sin. Many rely on medications, alcohol or drugs to try and manage the death that reigns in them. Jesus is the giver of life, the one who sets people who put their trust in Him free. He heals the sick and the brokenhearted. So how can we do for these people around us what Jesus does? Well, we need Him to equip us with the power that He has. If we ask Him to equip and empower us for His great commission, then He will. Now, when we a

The Pastor is not the boss

In many churches it seems as though the pastor is the boss and it should not be so. The pastor is supposed to be a shepherd. Have you ever watched sheep? For the most part the sheep come and go where they please and do according to their own will. The Shepherd ensures that they have sufficient food and water and that their boundaries are safe. He also oversees their health and wellness. So it should also be with the pastor and the church. The pastor should be like a servant of the church, someone who is helping the church to live well and who is looking out for them. The boss should be God! Now God will be our boss if we have exercised our free will and surrendered it to Him. In other words we have chosen to become a servant of God in all things. ROMANS 8 : 14 NKJV 14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Even though churches have a leadership, we are to be led by The Holy Spirit. Now the leadership may recommend things to us but we should pray about

It is all about relationship

We can identify ourselves with a sporting team and say things like: "We won the game" We might even know the names of all of the players in the team and much much more about them, but do we actually know them? How then can we say "We won"? We did not win, but those people that we may know a lot about won. How much do we know God? We may have read quite a bit about Him and we may even be quite knowledgeable about the things that He does and has done, but do we know Him? We may even be doing many works of service that we believe that God would want us to be doing, but are they what He desires of us? We can read His word and say that He requires this or that of us, but does He? LUKE 10 : 38 - 42 NKJV 38  Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house.  39  And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.  40  But Martha was distracted with much serving, an

What is the new man?

We have heard and perhaps read that when we become a christian, we become a new creation. What then changes in us? According to the word the old passes away and all things become new. If we look at ourselves can we see what has changed? Are we transformed instantly into someone new? No, we who are journeying in salvation by the power of The Holy Spirit are being transformed daily into that new man/woman. Who then will we become? What will we be like? What is the purpose of all of this? EPHESIANS 4 : 1 - 24 NKJV 4   I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,  2  with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,  3  endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  4  There is  one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;  5  one Lord, one faith, one baptism;  6  one God and Father of all, who  is  above all, and through all, and

Do you know an Apostle or a Prophet?

Do you know an apostle or a prophet? Do you spend any time with them? Are you submitted to what they say to you? Do you believe that what they say to you is the Word of God? How importantly do you treat that word?  I am asking you these questions regarding apostles and prophets, because we should all know them and we should all be submitted to them, because it is God's way. Now in being submitted to them I do not mean that we should just do everything that they tell us to do, but that we should pray about everything that they say to us and ask God to show us the truth so that we may hear Him and obey Him. If they are true apostles and prophets, then it is God speaking to us through them. Again I say that we should test what they say to us by asking God to show us the truth. Why do we need them? One could also ask, why do we need to hear the voice of God? Well hopefully all who read this are already hearing the voice of God and see it as of great importance, as we can not be led by
