How do we respond?

When trouble, trial or hardship come upon us, how do we respond? Do we try to fix it ourselves? Do we seek other people's help? Do we cry out to God for His help or solution? If something bad happens to us how do we feel about that? Are we disappointed with God because this thing has happened to us? In other words are we really blaming God for our misfortune? Have we said in our hearts that we are good christians that have done nothing wrong and therefore it is unrighteous for this thing to happen to us? Well there is no unrighteousness in God and if something bad is happening to us then we are being corrected. God punishes the ones that He loves. If we can not understand God in His Sovereignty and do not turn to Him for understanding, with humility, then we will miss His lesson for us and could potentially resent Him. It does not in some ways seem logical that you would be punished by the one who loves you. A good example is the parable of the Prodigal Son, where the son decides

Who is your head?

JAMES 4 : 1 - 9 NKJV Where do wars and fights  come  from among you? Do  they  not  come  from your  desires for  pleasure that war in your members?  2  You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.  3  You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend  it  on your pleasures.  4  Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.  5  Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? 6  But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Humility Cures Worldliness 7  Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  8  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse  your  hands,  you  sinners; and purify  your  hearts,  you

Why could they not see?

MARK 8 : 18 - 25 NKJV 18  Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?   19  When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you take up?” They said to Him, “Twelve.” 20  “Also, when I broke the seven for the four thousand, how many large baskets full of fragments did you take up?” And they said, “Seven.” 21  So He said to them,  “How  is it  you do not understand?” A Blind Man Healed at Bethsaida 22  Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him.  23  So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. 24  And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.” 25  Then He put  His  hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly. Jesus had already done many miracles and wonders in

Authority

What is it to have real authority? Who really walks in it? Do Politicians? Do Church leaders? Why is it necessary to our lives? It appears that in Government, at least here in Australia, the political leaders appear to have authority but they do not. If they make an unpopular decision then the media make a big deal of it, then the opinion polls show that they have lost favor in the eyes of the public and so they cower in fear of losing their position and change their minds. This is not having real authority because the ones that cause them to fear really have the power.  ROMANS 13 : 1 NKJV 13  Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. If then the authorities are appointed by God why do they fear losing popularity and being removed from their position? Surely if God has appointed someone and they are doing His will no one could remove them. Are they doing His will? Is t
