Being "Led By The Spirit"

Firstly what is it to be "Led  by The Spirit"? What is it to be led by anyone or anything? Surely it means that one is following that person or thing. Can you follow someone that you cannot see or hear? It is impossible! Therefore to be "Led by The Spirit" one must be able to see or hear Him. So why is it so important to be "Led by The Spirit"?

 ROMANS 8 : 14 NKJV

  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Therefore anyone who calls themselves a Christian (A follower of Christ) must be "Led by The Spirit"

 JOHN 10 : 27 NKJV

  My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
So then how can one hear Jesus?


 1 JOHN 2 : 27 NKJV

  But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
As you can see above you can hear God by the Anointing that you have received from Him or "By His Spirit". Not only that but it is "The Holy Spirit" that teaches His believers all things and empowers them in obedience to Him.

 ROMANS 8 : 13 NKJV
 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

 So if you are not "Led by The Spirit" then you will die, but if you are then you will live. The Holy Spirit is not an optional extra to a Christian believer, but without Him you are not a true believer.

 How then can one have "The Holy Spirit"? The answer is simple. Ask Jesus to save you from your sin and to surrender you to do His will that you may share eternity with Him and if you are sincere and remain faithful to Him, then He will save you. Also ask Him for "The Holy Spirit" and you will receive Him. If you have trouble in hearing "The Holy Spirit" then ask Him to show you what your problem is and He will. It may take time to get it but if you really want to know God then you will persevere, and you can even ask Him to help you to persevere. In fact you can and should ask Him to empower you in all things.

 MATTHEW 7 : 7 NKJV

  “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

 Jesus wants His followers to rely on Him for all things. If you do not have this kind of relationship with Him then maybe it is because you rely on yourself for all things? If you do then you are in your flesh or living according to your own will and if you are then you have not surrendered to the will of God. In other words you can not have both.

 ROMANS 8 : 8-14 NKJV


8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Sonship Through the Spirit

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

You can run but you can not hide.

We can do as we please because God has given us all a free will. Every moment of every day we exercise that free will by the choices that we make when we respond to our circumstances. We can be happy or sad, disappointed or accepting, forgiving or unforgiving, etc. We decide how we will respond. Like saying, "My cup is half full" or "My cup is half empty". We could also choose to be angry or bitter or depressed, etc. If we have chosen to be christians, we do not need to have any negatives in our life, because Jesus Christ will set us free. Again, that would be our choice, exercising our free will. If we ask Him why we are angry, bitter, frustrated, depressed, fearful, anxious, untruthful, unsubmitted, lusty, immoral, self-centered, etc. , then He will tell us the truth. Do you care?

The world that we live in today appears to be very self focused. People generally are looking out for themselves and perhaps their families. How much do we care for those around us? How much do we help others or bear their burdens with them? How thoughtful are we towards others, considering what they are experiencing?
